The Policy Options Explorer (POE) allows users to simulate the impact of policy options on regional performance indicators. Using the tool, PoliRural pilots were able to see how different strategies will play out in their region in the future. POE provides a sandbox environment for rural planning, where unwanted trends can be corrected by tweaking policy interventions until an optimal outcome is achieved. Lessons learned from POE use are captured in the trial report. Further information on how POE works technically is provided in deliverables D4.5 and D5.5.
